My company is actually working with the University of Chicago's Lying-In Hospital and I'm doing some research on the Our Baby's First Seven Years book and Hermien's name is coming up all over the place, but nothing online as far as who she was. I found her name on your blog via Google and thought I'd try to reach out to you this way.

I've actually uncovered a good number of things already. I'm not sure if you realize how important she was to the community back in her day. You should be very proud to have her in your family line. If there is anyone in the Chicagoland area that would be able to chat sometime, that would be absolutely wonderful! If you have any information or photos of her, that would be amazing as well!

Thank you so much,
Lydia Koranda
Dieselhaus, Director of Intelligence
lydia@dieselhaus.comLydia Jaehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18104160580735009484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4748691663175985393.post-5897823699606874832011-08-18T19:17:39.783-07:002011-08-18T19:17:39.783-07:00Suzy, this is a magnificent drawing together of th...Suzy, this is a magnificent drawing together of the many people whose footsteps we followed through Illinois last week. A few additions: Charles Nusbaum was our great-grandfather (one great), and Abe our great-great grandfather (2 greats). Also Meyer (Mayer?) Lilienstein was Mose Nusbaum's partner and the father of Arthur. We also learned that Meyer's wife Rebecca was a civic leader, as a member of the Petersburg Women's club which helped found the Petersburg Public Library. She was also a member of the Library board of trustees, and the women's club history said that she had a tender heart.Ann Ohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17370585525696040588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4748691663175985393.post-41924411717590945602011-08-15T22:06:55.611-07:002011-08-15T22:06:55.611-07:00It sounds like you came across this newsletter, wh...It sounds like you came across this newsletter, which has an article about Louis, http://chicagojewishhistory.org/pdf/2002/CJH.1.2002.pdf
For a map about the location of Halsdorf, which is very close to the town or village of Nussbaum, see http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&cp=8&gs_id=w&xhr=t&q=halsdorf+germany&qe=SGFsc2RvcmY&qesig=0juKx3UyuefXlxh7q0mRgQ&pkc=AFgZ2tmbreD2C5uEKxUOMfrjTDTvjQvzhMHpNgbyu6TFdldYZrTWR4UFvY9jI7DsoFTN2ec1VpoXCOqQhRuuJfmYdyg4KqTJzg&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1280&bih=709&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x47bfe6c8cfdf4061:0x422d4d510daf7d0,Halsdorf,+Germany&gl=us&ei=K_pJToDTGoLe0QHLmqjrBw&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1&sqi=2&ved=0CBYQ8gEwAABethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08579564046857685562noreply@blogger.com
